Tyler has the ability to write lyrics that are both clever and streetwise. The band's musicality, particularly when it adds rocking riffs, sets it aside as one of the elite bands of the past five decades.

A love affair developed between Aerosmith and MTV. "Janie's Got a Gun" won both Best Rock Video and Viewer's Choice in 1990. In 1998, the ballad, "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" won the Best Video from a Film award. All told, the group has been nominated for 21 MTV awards and has brought home 10 top honors.
