Blink 182 originated in Poway, California in 1992. The original members of the band include Mark Hoppus on bass/vocals, Tom DeLonge on vocals/guitar, and Scott Raynor on drums. Raynor went on to be replaced by the band's current drummer, Travis Barker, in 1998. After playing all over California in any clubs that would let them, Blink 182 was finally signed to a small label called Cargo Music in 1994. After being signed, the band released their first CD, Cheshire Cat.

In 1998, the band was signed to a larger label, MCA, to help reach a larger market. Their single "Dammit" landed them firmly into fame. The single is still considered one of Blink 182's biggest hits. The band went on to produce "Dude Ranch" and finally "Enema of the State" which is considered their breakthrough album. "Enema of the State" sold over 15 million copies and marked Blink 182 as one of the largest pop punk groups of the decade.

After the release of their self entitled album, Blink 182 split as a group. Tom DeLonge was reportedly the cause of the split stating that he needed more time with his family and did not wish to be a part of the band anymore. To the delight of their fans, the band announced in 2009 that they were back together. Mark Hoppus announced at the Grammy Awards, "Blink 182 is back!" Since then, the band has been working feverishly in the studio to produce their sixth album.

Following their announcement, the band went on a summer tour featuring acts like Weezer, Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, and All American Rejects.
